The Sky Wave Distilling Company, based at Bicester Motion, would like to pay tribute to the two firefighters and one member of the Bicester Motion family who died in the terrible events on Thursday evening, now that they have been named.
Members of the Sky Wave team were on site throughout the evening, and witnessed first hand the dedication, professionalism and courage of all the blue light services. We thank them deeply.
When Martyn Sadler and Jennie Logan reported for their shift on Thursday, they no doubt did it with the same desire to serve as always. On Thursday evening, when some might have run away from danger, they ran towards it to protect the people of Bicester. It is the deepest tragedy that they paid with their lives.
Dave Chester was known to all of us personally. He was also always the first to help when anything practical was needed. He was hugely knowledgeable in all infrastructure matters, and did work directly for Sky Wave over the years that we have been on site. His loss is felt equally deeply.
The thoughts and prayers of the whole Sky Wave team go out to the families and friends of Martyn, Jennie and Dave. May they rest in peace, their duty done. We also remember the two firefighters who remain in hospital with serious injuries, and wish them a full and speedy recovery.

The name Sky Wave is a blend of the big skies and big seas that have characterised our distillery founders Rachel Hicks and Andy Parsons’s adventures over the years as a BBC reporter and Army officer – a passion for adventure that inspired them as they created our fabulously smooth spirit. Our founders remain directly involved in the production of every single bottle. This is true craft gin.
An incredible amount of time, effort and skill goes into producing our premium craft gins. Old Tom is a very old style of English gin, dating back to the 17th Century. Production techniques and ingredients were often very poor, resulting in a rough-tasting drink. It was therefore sweetened slightly, and sometimes lightly spiced, to make it palatable, as it would usually have been drunk neat. This often resulted in a spirit that was no longer clear.
Sky Wave has been faithful to this style, creating an exquisitely crafted historic gin brought up to date for the discerning 21st century drinker.

Sky Wave’s brand new Orange and Madagascan Vanilla Gin is a delicious cutting edge expression crafted over the course of an entire year by Sky Wave Gin’s Master Distiller, Andrew Parsons. This exquisite, subtle spirit was the highest scoring orange gin in the world at the 2021 International Wine and Spirits Competition.
Created with fresh oranges, never flavourings or essences, the zest and orange segments are steeped in our Signature London Dry before being crushed to extract their fabulous, alcohol imbued juice. It is this fruit juice which brings just a touch of natural sweetness to the gin, as no sugar or artificial sweeteners are added. Drinkers will perceive the warm, creamy hint of finest Madagascan vanilla, sourced directly from the growers.

Sky Wave Liberation London Dry Gin is a smooth, soft, perfectly balanced gin at 42%ABV, created from 9 botanicals which reflect the nature growing around us in Lockdown, including raspberries and lemon verbena. Amongst its many medals, this outstanding gin was awarded a highly coveted Gold at the 2022 World Gin Awards.

This is the award-winning Navy Strength version of Sky Wave Gin - same great smooth taste, but bottled at 57% ABV. It is so good it scooped the much-coveted MASTER distinction, the highest award, not once but twice at the International Gin Masters, and a silver medal at the 2022 World Gin Awards - as well as many others. The increased alcohol really brings out the berry and citrus content, so you get a very slightly sweeter hit before the subtle spices kick in for that famous lingering finish.
Originally Sky Wave Gin’s Winter Edition, our Spiced Apple Gin Liqueur has now become one of our most versatile offerings. We have taken fabulous Sky Wave Gin, and added Oxfordshire apples plus selected spices, to create this fabulous expression. In the Autumn and Winter, sipped neat, it’s a deliciously warming, fruity liqueur. But in the Summer it works incredibly well with ice and ginger ale for a long, refreshing drink.
