Oxfordshire’s Sky Wave Distilling Company can reveal that one of its recent bespoke gin creations,  ‘Golden Hour’ London Dry, produced in collaboration with luxury care home group Berkley Care Group, has been awarded a Master medal at the Global Gin Masters. This isn't just a bronze, silver, or gold; the Master medal is the highest possible category awarded by the judges.

To put this global triumph into context:

• 159 gins were entered from 81 companies around the world.
• Out of 29 entries in our Contemporary category, only five Master medals were awarded.
• Golden Hour is proudly one of them!
• This amazing result proudly places Berkley Golden Hour Gin amongst the very best gins in the world.

But here’s the best bit: this gin was created by Berkley residents after overwhelmingly voting Gin and Tonic as their favourite tipple. A delegation visited the Sky Wave distillery in Bicester, Oxfordshire to work alongside the Sky Wave team. The discerning group described what they wanted, and Sky Wave’s Master Distiller selected the botanicals and balanced them to create the perfect gin. The finished spirit was proclaimed “exceptional” by one Berkley resident.

Golden Hour’, is a London Dry gin described as having a "floral, aromatic, and characterful expression, perfect for enjoying in a Gin and Tonic.”

The gin takes its name from “Golden Hour” at Fernhill House, one of Berkley’s homes, where residents gather each Thursday evening to enjoy a drink together. The ritual has now been adopted across the group, with Golden Hour becoming a symbol of connection and shared community.

Bespoke Golden Hour gin is available in all twelve Berkley Care Group homes, giving residents and potential residents the opportunity to enjoy this special bespoke gin and can be ordered online.
