Sky Wave Solidifies Global Leadership in Craft Spirits by Striking Gold at New Zealand Spirits Awards
Sky Wave is thrilled to announce its latest triumph: a prestigious gold medal at the New Zealand Spirits Awards 2025 in the highly competitive Classic Gin Category. This remarkable achievement, brought about through a chance encounter, not only underscores Sky Wave's unwavering commitment to exceptional quality but also marks its 85th international medal, further cementing its reputation as a world-leading craft gin producer.

The journey to this latest accolade began with a serendipitous meeting. The global gin community is renowned for its camaraderie, fostering connections among distillers worldwide. It was through this spirit of shared passion that Justine, from Mt Fyffe Distillery in New Zealand's South Island, visited Sky Wave in June. Impressed by the exquisite taste of Sky Wave's Signature London Dry, Justine encouraged Sky Wave to enter her home country's esteemed New Zealand Spirits Awards. With the deadline fast approaching, she personally transported a bottle back to New Zealand, ensuring its timely submission.
The surprise news arrived via email, confirming Sky Wave's Gold medal win. "To say we’re delighted is an understatement," remarked Co-Founder, Andrew Parsons, "The judges state that gold medals are exclusively awarded to standout spirits that are near the peak of achievement. We are incredibly proud to hear this, and it confirms, yet again, that Sky Wave leads the world in the quality of its spirits."
The New Zealand Spirits Awards 2025 saw over 400 entries from across the globe, with all winners meticulously selected through rigorous blind tastings. In the Classic Gin Category, only five gold medals were awarded out of a total of 42, placing Sky Wave in an elite tier. Notably, Sky Wave surpassed several other renowned British distilleries, who received silver or bronze medals in the same category.
With 85 international medals now under its belt, Sky Wave is actively seeking distribution partners in New Zealand to bring its award-winning spirits to a wider audience.
